Fortress Investment Group Announces Acquisition of University Village in North Carolina for Fortress Real Estate Exchange Platform

Fortress Investment Group (“Fortress”) today announced that funds managed by its affiliates have closed the acquisition of University Village, a 600‑bed student housing community that serves the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC Greensboro) and North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T).

The acquisition marks the second investment for Fortress Real Estate Exchange, a 1031 exchange platform that provides financial advisors and their clients with access to institutional‑quality real estate investments through Delaware Statutory Trusts (DSTs).

Built in 2007, University Village comprises 203 units and has almost 250,000 rentable square feet. Located one block from the UNC Greensboro campus, the property a premier housing option for students of UNC Greensboro and NC A&T and has achieved close to 100% occupancy over the past four academic years. Strong fundamentals support the property’s ongoing strong performance: UNC Greensboro has grown enrollment by more than 5% over the past two years while NC A&T has grown enrollment in each of the past ten years. No new student housing facilities have been constructed in Greensboro, NC, over the past decade.
